Frequently Asked Questions
There is ample clinical evidence that shows exercise to be an effective treatment for many types of anxiety and depression. Aerobic exertion releases endorphins, positively effecting mood changes, so it’s no wonder that (other) legitimate therapeutic modalities, that involve physical movement, have emerged over time. Thus, a comparative look is, perhaps, most helpful.
First, there’s “walk and talk therapy,” which is when all, or part, of a therapy session is conducted during a stroll — client and therapist walk side-by-side as they converse, making it easier for clients to relax, release physical tension, breathe deep and receive mind-body insight while processing experiences in a different way. Then, there’s dance/movement therapy, or DMT, an even better comp for Psycletherapy™. It uses movement and nonverbal communication, in addition to talk therapy, to manage psychological and behavioral concerns that words alone do not address. There have been multiple clinical studies that support its physical, intellectual, and emotional health benefits. These include stress reduction, symptom relief from conditions such as anxiety and depression, treating disordered eating, low self-esteem, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), among other conditions.
Psycletherapy™ is facilitated in a private setting in a fitness studio and is offered to both individuals and groups. Elizabeth and her client spend the first portion of the session talking and relating in a therapeutic sense — the way most people think of “therapy”. Then, you will hop on a stationary bike where Elizabeth leads you through a process of solidifying your insights in your body, as well as processing and releasing stuck feelings and energy.
A uniquely-crafted, motivational, soundtrack provides a sonic backdrop for the ride, carefully curated with input from each client. The nostalgic aspect of the music helps to evoke one’s own memories and feelings, which can either be enhanced or worked through, depending on what is needed.

You don’t have to choose! Psycletherapy™ sessions build on the benefits of conventional psychotherapy — progressing from a contemplative (and sedentary) discussion to the physicality of an indoor cycling session turns down the conscious, thinking part of the brain while stimulating the motor and sensory functions which help free the client’s mind to think differently about problems and challenges, within the therapeutic context.
Psycletherapy™ is for all fitness levels and all body types, and no prior indoor cycling experience is required. The ride will be tailored to wherever you are on your fitness journey. Yes, there may be moments of feeling out of your comfort zone, but that won’t be because you aren’t “fit enough.” All are welcome!
